Nevertheless, pick-up artist Jack Diamond must have felt like a sack of soiled shirts after Conant, who’s written books detailing her own sexual advice, had an hour with him.
Conant has this weekly show on PTU, taped Saturday afternoons, and Diamond, her guest last week, is this clean-cut type. He reminds you a lot, facially, of porn performer Jack Lawrence.
It was Diamond’s contention that through application of his methods, anyone could find someone when the ball drops. Diamond was speaking, specifically, of New Year’s Eve and not what’s between a man’s legs.
Diamond uses terms like speed seduction and escalating interaction to describe what used to be commonly called rounding the bases.
[Py, who took the contrarian view throughout much of what Diamond had to say, thought his jargon was also complicated and overkill to the situation.]
“I focus on creating meaningful interaction,” Diamond explains. “Most guys want to find a girl they can call the next day. And what women want is chemistry and intense interaction.”
Judging from what Diamond says, bookstores are better breeding grounds for future relationships than bars. But what Diamond neglects to mention is that all the hot chicks are in the bars.
Noting that women have incredible peripheral vision, Diamond also goes on to say that it’s not so much the clever pick-up line but the impression the man gives off along with voice and a warm presence which is established by facial reactions.
“Be comfortable and laid back,” Diamond advises. “You can say anything as long as you say it the right way. And girls can read body language ten times better than guys.”
Py tended to disagree with that statement.
Diamond also feels that guys try to be too clever and funny.
“Girls see through that,” he continues. It was also Diamond’s suggestion that men put the burden of conversation on the women.
“Paddle into the wave and use the wave’s momentum,” he states, using surfer lingo. “And talk to them like you’ve known them for five years.”
Diamond also advised men to accept rejection as a great time saver.
Py was of the belief that regardless how warm a guy appears in the beginning, men turn into jerks later on. Diamond also covered that strategy for when it came time to the actual seduction.
“Make her feel like it’s her idea,” he says. “Girls love sex but they don’t want to feel like sluts.”
Diamond said his techniques work best on women who don’t really know what they want and need a helpful nudge.
