Porn Valley- Director Jerry T. is saying he’s lost 25 pounds. Maybe he lost all of them when the LAPD came visiting his set Thursday. Others have certainly pooped their pants in similar situations. But everything was cool and all the permits were in order, although the cops right now seem to be on a mission to hit porn sets with the frequency of journalists waiting for Kurt Lockwood to blow up in their faces.
It’s now the day after, and The DaVinci Load 2: Angels & Semen is wrapping up in the Hustler studios. Whoever did the casting, hit a home run.
“There’s too many bodies in the room!” Tanner’s yelling out. He’s right. It is a little crowded in the area where the next scene’s being shot. Kind of like being in a crap game aboard a submarine. Tanner’s asked if the two-piece outfit Naomi Cruise is wearing appeals to him for the pretty girl shots. Tanner says no.
“You ask me if I like this- yes or no? I don’t like it,” says Tanner candidly to a somewhat startled reaction. Cruise changes into something even more revealing. It certainly shows off her ass and gorgeous legs more prominently which is a good thing. Photog Richard Montfort compares Cruise to a Fifties pinup model which is a pretty high compliment to pay. If comparisons can be made, Cruise reminds you a little of Kimberly Kane when Kane first started in the business. Except Montfort is announcing to everyone within earshot that Cruise also has two vaginas. He’s kidding and she’s mortified.
“We’ll wipe that smile off her face,” Jace Rocker’ss saying in another room. He’s talking about the grinning blond, dressed in a school girl outfit and modest black pumps, who’s about to jump into frame with Nautica Thorn. Thorn’s the star of the movie. Before I learn that the blond is Denise from Demark I’m ready to just call her The Smiler. Besides a grin to prompt ejaculation, Denise has a set of ankles and insteps a man would love to wrap his fingers around. Nice legs, nice ass, too. Facially, she also resembles Stormy to a degree.
Not that it’ll necessarily turn you into a sex maniac, porn does have its subtle side affects. I remember going to a Tom Hanks movie last year and asking the ticket teller to give me one for The Da Vinci Load. She looks at me kinda funny.
A plane’s buzzing overhead, forcing Tanner to stop in the middle of dialogue.
“The slow plane from China is here,” he announces. He checks out the monitor and Denise.
“Pretty as a baby,” he smiles. I get the impression from their exchange that Nautica Thorn’s playing a professor. Okay, and I’m a trampoline artist. Thorn and Denise then engage in a session of wild teacher-student love. Jerry T. says he’s not a great fan of sapphic encounters but loves what Denise and Thorn are putting together. They’re doing one of those pelvis-to-pelvis mating rituals.
Denise has no accent to speak of, and I remember meeting her at a Jim Powers reverse bukkake shoot several weeks prior. Denise says she’s yet to get a check from that shoot. Which leads me to ask Thorn about how Joe from AMA Talent is doing. Because that’s the last time I ran into her- when she was a contract girl for the company.
“I really can’t discuss that for legal reasons,” states Thorn, her eyes telling you a little more than what her lips are saying.
“The whole story will come out at some point,” she adds. I ask Thorn if she’s bound by a gag order. She’s not giving in.
“Joe had a partner, right?” asks Thorn rhetorically. “Where’s the partner now? That should tell you something.” According to Thorn, the experience definitely opened her eyes to a lot of things in the business.
“I learned from my mistakes.”
In any event, Thorn says the day after she left AMA, she got picked to do Reign of Tera 2 for Teravision and was booked for two months straight after that. She met her current boyfriend, Patrick’s personal assistant, on that shoot.
“He went on the road with me and said I should have my own company,” Thorn relates. In fact, the first movie from her company is being released by Hustler next month. It’s called Nautica Thorn’s All Access, and she’s contracted to do four movies a year for the company.
Thorn was also one of the porn stars invited to London for three weeks for the taping of the reality show, My Bare Lady. The idea was to see who would land the part of Juliet in the production of a Shakespearean play. Although Thorn didn’t win [Wicked’s Kirstin Price did], Thorn said it was an amazing and rewarding experience just the same.
“I guess I didn’t want to win,” she reflects. “I didn’t want the responsibility.”
And despite some of the rumors, no one was trying to screw them on money, Thorn says.
Other doors have also opened for Thorn as a result of the My Bare Lady experience and she just did something for the E! Channel which will air later in the year.
“We were awesome in that scene,” Denise tells Thorn later in the kitchen. Denise, who’s having a snack, is asked about her next door neighbor accent and why it isn’t “Denmarkian.”
Beats her, she says. “I had one when I first came over here.” Denise has been in the business about three years and started doing nude photo shoots at the age of 16. She talks about the time she worked in a whore house answering the phone [“the old guys wanted to talk to a young girl and fuck my teenage body”]; and then the time she did a glamour competition in Cuba. She lost and decided screw it, she’ll try porn.
“I got sad- so sad, I came here,” she laughs. First she tried being a stripper but discovered that it was too much work for the money. Then, after talking it over with her boyfriend Denise flew to LA and hooked up with LA Direct. In the meantime, Denise started a company in Denmark to help other girls get a chance in the porn industry. But she describes the industry over there as one of “cheating, lying and chaos.” If she wasn’t doing porn, Denise said she’d definitely be in some aspect of the sex business, though.
Raven Touchstone, who penned the Angels and Semen script, is writing her own book about the industry. Touchstone, who kept diaries and logs throughout the years, figured she’d be in the business all of ten minutes but thinks she’s probably written 400 porn scripts. I suspect this is a way modest count.
Touchstone also recalls a time at an industry premiere when she met a 23 year-old Steve Hirsch who had just started Vivid. Hirsch was predicting that Vivid was going to be bigger than anybody.
I’m chatting with Touchstone in the makeup room and Cruise, who’s just given a self-administered chiropractic adjustment to her spinal column, is looking at another girl’s script.
“I like your lines- I’d love to say that,” Cruise tells her. Cruise, who’s repped by Gold Star Modeling, has been in the business about two months and was a dancer and motorcycle model before that. She’s telling someone about the time she worked with Fallon and started yelling at him during the course of their scene, “Fuck me, you Puerto Rican fucker.”
“Anyone go to that birthday party last night?” Cruise then asks aloud. She’s referring to Jack Lawrence’s shindig Thursday night but someone thinks she’s talking about Joel Lawrence. Cruise says, no, she’s talking about “the guy who dresses up like a cop” and then, to make a point of a story, draws the distinction that Joel knows how to talk to women.
“Some of these guys in porn?” she says. “Puh-leeze. They think they can pick up girls with the lines they use on them. After a scene, they want to go out with you. No way.”
Evan Stone, who’s also in the cast, just got back from New Zealand where he went to sign autographs for a Sex Expo. Stone describes how he visited an area where they shot Lord of The Rings. The lake in particular was so beautiful that he just wanted to pull his dick out and jerk off, Stone says.
“You smell like weed,” one of the girls tells him.
“That’s okay- you smell like cocaine,” he replies.
“You’re a funny guy,” I say to Stone. “You should be in entertainment.”
“And what- give up show business?” he asks.
