Hi,I publish an online calendar for the feature dancing industry, in which I list the upcoming events for individual features and individual gentlemen’s clubs across the country.
I’d like to publish the calendar of every performer in the business, but
over the past few years several performers have asked me not to publish
their schedules. It seems that at least one agency in the feature booking
business makes a point of calling every club in some girls’ upcoming
schedules to badmouth or even slander them to the club owners and managers.
And the trick sometimes works: club owners who don’t know they’re being
conned end up cancelling their bookings with popular dancers and even
switching agencies.
I know it’s a tough business – but does it have to be one that even the
adult video industry laughs at? Agents in the porno industry have a bad
reputation, but agents in the club booking industry are actually looked down upon out here on The Coast – because of the way they chew up the careers of the girls caught between them.
In listing the upcoming schedules for performers and clubs around the
country, I’m trying to publicize and promote everyone’s business – that
clubs, performers and agencies alike. And my business is also being hindered by the practices of a few criminal agencies, who forget that slander is a crime.
I’m going to propose that the industry hold an open forum on agency tactics
at the upcoming Expo in August. I’m sure that club owners will want to take
part. I hope that performers won’t feel intimidated by their agents and will be able to take part as well. I think that club owners are the key to ending the more egregious fraud practiced by some feature agencies: club owners only become its victim when they don’t have other sources of information to turn to when they hear rumors or slander about features on the circuit.
I intend to work with other publishers and organizations in the business to
provide that information on a regular basis.
