Lexington, Kentucky– Opposition continues over the possibility of a Hustler store coming to central Kentucky.
Constuction is underway at a site off Winchester road near I-75, in Lexington.
Drive up 75 north past Cincinnati and you’ll see it. It’s only one of only five retail stores nationwide, managed by Dusty Flynt. “We have Hustler logo wear, t-shirts for girls and guys, we have beanies to keep girls heads warm.”
And this is what he wants to bring to Lexington. “When you walk in the store, it’s very comfortable, very inviting in a relaxed environment.”
The store features Hustler logo wear and accessories in the front and in the back, some things we can’t show you.
“In our adult section, we card. All of our employees know before they get to this point to card customers.”
Flynt says he’s always wanted to bring a store to Lexington–to have one in his home state. Dusty Flynt grew up in Salyersville. “There’s many people in Lexington that want Hustler Hollywood and would like us to be there.”
But some city leaders don’t want him or his store here. Flynt says city leaders can’t stop him from opening the store. “Ultimately, we will succeed.”
Flynt says he’s aware of the opposition, but he doesn’t see a reason for it. “Just because you don’t accept something doesn’t mean you have the right to tell somebody else that they can’t do it.”
Flynt says he plans to have the Lexington store open by February. City leaders say not if they can stop it.
The Flynt’s faced similar opposition when they opened the store in Ohio, but Dusty Flynt says protestors backed off once they saw what the store was like.
