Oui magazine licenses its name to Extreme Associates for a new line of gonzo productions

CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Oui magazine has licensed its name to Extreme Associates for a new line of gonzo productions.

Extreme’s first entry in the series, Oui Digital, will be released on March 17. The title stars Gina Lynn and Lizzy Borden in scenarios directed by Mark Alias Zane, Thomas Zupko and company owner Rob Black.

A softcore DVD version of Oui Digital will be included with every issue of the magazine, along with a full pictorial. Extreme’s hardcore version of each title will hit streets the same day as the magazine.

“This is going to be done in the style of Oui, and not necessarily Extreme,” Matt Zane, VP of marketing and production for Extreme Associates, told AVN.com. “[Oui Digital] will basically be like an extension of the magazine.

“It’s a really great promotion for both sides,” Zane continued. “Oui gets put out there in a digital format, and each title is put into a magazine with a huge circulation.”

Originally launched in France in 1964, Oui saw its heyday during the ’70s and early ’80s, introducing European flavor to an American men’s magazine. The publication has always tried to stay diverse, mixing nude pictorials with politics and music, an element that particularly attracted Extreme.

“Oui is a nudie magazine, but it also always has a great rock section in the back, with editors and writers that are really into music,” continued Zane, who fronts the metal band, Society One. “We’re trying to contribute to that too…the next issue of Oui will have an interview with Society 1 in it, and both the softcore and hardcore DVDs will feature Society 1 latest video, ‘This Is the End.'”

Susan Traub, owner and President of Global Media Group, the company that publishes Oui, along with a host of other adult magazines, said that she had been trying to get Oui into the DVD market for some time now. “Since I’m a publisher and not a producer of DVDs, I don’t know a whole lot about that side of things,” Traub said. “So we were searching for someone, and Extreme looked like a pretty attractive fit. [Extreme] does a lot of stuff that has a 70’s feel to it, and they have a music background, and we have a rock n’ roll background. And Rob [Black] is also a really cool guy, so it worked out great.”

Zane explained the deal between Extreme and Oui as a natural progression. “People can check out the magazine. If they like it, they can pick it up and check out the softcore DVD, and if they like that, they can go out and buy the hardcore DVD. It’s pretty exciting, because Oui is such a unique magazine.”
