from www.examiner.com – Today the AVN Media Network announced the new location for its 2010 AVN Awards Show to be held on January 10, 2010: The Pearl Concert Theatre at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The annual event presented by Adult Video News began in 1983 and has since grown into something akin to the porno Oscars, with more than 100 awards in various categories. For a full list of 2009 AVN Awards winners and more information about the awards, visit AVNAwards.com.

For the last three previous years the event was held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The annual awards show is now broadcast on Showtime.

“The Pearl Concert Theatre is an intimate, state-of-the-art facility,” said Paul Fishbein, president of AVN. “We were looking for something more conducive to a close-up experience, and watching what was done for both the NHL Awards and the MTV Music Video Awards two years ago convinced us that this theater provided an ideal location for the show. There isn’t a bad seat in the house.”

Tickets for the 2010 show go on sale on Oct. 1 and will be available at www.avnawards.com. A dazzling array of parties and special events for that weekend will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The Palms Casino Resort has been a wonderful home for our winter Internext conventions, so we’re excited to further our relationship with that venue,” said Darren Roberts, AVN’s CEO. “We now have greater flexibility in producing the television coverage of the awards, while making the live experience that much better for our attendees.”

“We are thrilled to be the new home of the AVN Awards,” said George Maloof, owner of the Palms Casino Resort. “Moving this show to the Pearl will give guests a more intimate experience than in years past.”
