from www.news.ninemsn.com.au – A Melbourne pensioner who gave a prostitute the cash from his re-mortgaged home has failed in his court bid to get it repaid.
Elderly widower Michele Nesci showered prostitute Wanita Knell, 34, with gifts during frequent visits between the pair, which began in 2005, the Herald Sun reports.
The 76-year-old then took out a reverse mortgage of $110,000 on his home in 2009 after pleas for help from Ms Knell, who always claimed the money was a gift.
Mr Nesci said he told Ms Knell the money was a loan to pay for the building of a house, and expected to be paid back when the woman won a legal case against a police officer.
Ms Knell’s defence said the claimant had only gone to police over the alleged extortion after his daughter discovered the family home had been mortgaged.
Judge Graham Anderson said he was not satisfied Mr Nesci had produced enough evidence the money was loaned, and rejected the case, ordering Mr Nesci to pay Ms Knell’s legal costs.
