Yes, I started in mainstream and I am still in mainstream. I feel that juliland.com is mainstream.
Do you still work in mainstream?

Do you feel that your background influences how you shoot porn?
BIG TIME! My history, my upbringing, my parents and my wealth of knowledge sets me apart from anyone I know. I don’t look at porn for ideas. I look at the world, at fashion, at art, at life and all my travels for influence. Most of all it’s the grrls, they’re a huge influence on my work with what they bring to every shoot.
What sets you apart from other directors and photographers?
I have talent, mad skills, experience, passion and most of all a vision.
If you could encapsulate your philosophy about erotica into one sentence what would it be?
I love beautiful women, especially when they’re naked in front of my camera!
When did you start making porn?
My first porn shoot was over 15 years ago with my partner Juli Ashton. But I really don’t think what I do is “porn”. It’s art, it’s erotica, it’s a hybrid of everything. That’s why it’s contemporary and fresh!
How did you meet Juli Ashton?
At a party in NYC many years ago. One of those drunken, barely remember the details, kind of nights.
What made you decide to work with each other?
First of all… Our respect and admiration for each other. We spent years talking and then 5 years ago we came up with the idea. We felt it was the right time to make something special and most of all to have fun!

What was the first thing you ever shot in porn?

Strange things happen when we shoot porn. Can you give us a couple examples of funnier things that have happened while you were shooting? Or flip outs?
Wow!! So many crazy things have happen at Juliland shoots… There’s Lexi Belle masturbating with a carrot—and that was her idea! Also my first shoot for Juliland and doing my first video with Kelle Marie. I was so nervous!!! I felt like a dirty old man, and then Juli reminded me that I was a dirty young man! There was the time with Bobbi Starr at the Roosevelt Hotel that involved grapes & bananas!! It was a mess and we couldn’t stop laughing! Recently I couldn’t stop laughing when Amy Ried covered herself in banana cream pie! No real flips outs… The grrls have been great and always excited to play with me. We kind of put our heads together and come up with these crazy ideas. Never dull and always fun!
