Richard Abowitz comments about the Jay Ashley Interview

After a 7 1/2 year relationship with Aurora Snow, Jay Ashley’s moved on to other things. Apparently Aurora, too, who, according to Jay, has now been seeing writer Richard Abowitz www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=29330

Abowitz comments about my interview with Jay.

Richard Abowitz writes: Hi Mr. Ross. I just saw your interview that references me. There is no way to write something defending a person you are close to without sounding too close to the situation to comment with neutrality.

But I am disturbed that you reference an off-the-record conversation about things concerning Aurora Snow and then add “Jay is probably right.” Of course, I do not know what he said about her or them. But any relationship that lasts that long can end without a right and wrong; a relationship needs a future to continue. This is not to offer any insight into Aurora and Jay, but is a reflection of my own experience in a 7 1/12 year relationship that ended in 1999.

As to the one fact offered by Jay, memories can differ, but I met Aurora through my work and not through Jay. I contacted her by e-mail for her site. Here is a link to our first conversation:

www.vegasblog.latimes.com/vegas/2005/12/aurora_snow.html

We met on the floor of the convention and we did a joint webcast for LATimes.com that year and got to know each other better after that. She introduced me to Jay at that time. I thought he was a nice guy and I never had any issues with him.

But as the one fact offered (Aurora was introduced to me by Jay) is not accurate, you might not choose to put faith in whatever off the record information was given to you about Aurora. I understand that your site is read by your industry and the implications of what he could have said about her are infinite. I would say as a reporter who works in the mainstream press and often takes Aurora along on assignments in Vegas my ability to handle drama does not exist. She has always been an asset to me in my work reporting stories by helping get us where we need to be, offering unflagging energy and optimism. She has also proved an invaluable person to bounce ideas off of and get observations from. In knowing Aurora life dealt me a solid.

And, so I can certainly vouch for how she lives a healthy lifestyle, tries to treat others right, truly loves her work and her fans (in way, that I admit I can not easily handle), and cares deeply about the industry she has been a part of now for years. In short, there is nothing about her that discretion would dictate be whispered to you off the record, and so that seems gratuitously designed to damage her reputation through a hint of scandal where none exists.

So, to close, I hope whatever off the record innuendo your story hints at is seen as coming from a source who is not being accurate even when on the record. Yrs., Richard Abowitz
