Porn star Heather Hunter sees most charges in $3Million plagiarism suit tossed out

New York- Porn star Heather Hunter convinced a Manhattan federal judge Thursday that she might be just as talented with her clothes on as when they’re off.

Judge Harold Baer tossed out most claims in a $3 million plagiarism suit filed by author Dianne Miller, who charges Hunter’s debut novel, “Insatiable: The Rise of a Porn Star,” is a ripoff.

The missionary’s daughter says she gave Hunter a manuscript titled “Insatiable Desires” in 2005, when Hunter was going through a bad case of writer’s block.

Two years later, St. Martin’s Press published Hunter’s novel, written with co-author Michelle Valentine.

And while the book didn’t make much money, Miller’s lawyer, Wilbur Colom, says he’ll take up the judge’s offer to reconsider the suit if he modifies some of the legal claims in it.

Colom joked that maybe the attention the case is getting in the press will help sales.

“I hope it gets some attention now so it makes some money,” Colom quipped. It would be money he would funnel to his client, Miller – but he insisted money’s not the issue.

“My client is not going to sit back and let this happen whether or not the book made any money,” Colom said.

He argued Hunter lifted passages word-for-word from Miller’s manuscript after Miller e-mailed her a copy in 2005.

Baer was not persuaded.

“Insatiable” tells the story of porn star diva Simone Young whose quest for stardom takes an erotic turn when a friend tells her there’s big money to be made in skin flicks.

Among the G-rated bits of dialogue is this: “You won’t have to give a real massage, silly.”

Hunter could not be reached for comment.

In a 2007 interview, she said she worked on the novel for 10 years. In 2003, she became the first African-American to be inducted into the Adult Video News Hall of Fame.

Miller, who lives in Washington, has penned a series of erotic tales titled “Passion’s Bedtime Stories.”
