BURBANK, CALIFORNIA – The longest running weekly organized event in porn history is about to reach yet another milestone. Porn Star Karaoke, sometimes known as PSKclub, will celebrate it’s THREE YEAR anniversary Tuesday night at Sardo’s Bar in Burbank. Sold out nearly every Tuesday night, for the last 36 months, PSKclub has been graced with the presence of such well known adult superstars as Tera Patrick, Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Jill Kelly, Tyler Faith, Ron Jeremy, Dennis Hof, Janine and Kylie Ireland to name a few. The hole in the wall shindig also saw it’s share of many mainstream celebs including Drew Carey, Tommy Lee, Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Degeneres, the musical group Cypress Hill and Mickey Rourke.
Founded by former adult starlet Aria (www.ariaxxx.com), Konnie (www.DVSX.com) and Wankus (www.KSEXradio.com) [who ended up hosting the night on a regular basis], PSKclub was simply a few friends who wanted to go out and sing. As each week went by, based on word of mouth on KSEX, extensive coverage by Gene Ross on AdultFYI.com and the buzz on local movie sets, the crowd doubled to a level where fire marshals were actually showing up and doing all night head counts.
“People tried to duplicate what we were doing and at times were even stealing the name in clubs in Hollywood, private parties, across the country, wherever,” Wankus said, “but they never had the chance because they didn’t have the combined chemistry of the right personalities and a very grateful and willing club owner in Seymore Satin. He still owes me a trip to Hawaii, all expenses paid!”
Satin remembers the first night Aria, Wankus and Konnie visited three years ago. “They brought a whole new mood into the place and all three of them could sing. The dozen or so customers in the place lit up and knew something special just dropped in on us.” Nestled in a quaint little Von’s shopping center just off the 134 freeway on Pass Avenue, the former bar for the aged met a whole new breed on the evening in question. “I must say, Wankus’ perverse lyrics while hysterical, did make me a little nervous. Then having Aria flashing this and that, Konnie getting slinky on the female customers…I was a little nervous how our new guests would be received.” Nearly 1100 days later, Satin didn’t imagine it would ever be this successful.
“What makes Sardos the only place for Porn Star Karaoke is that we are not treated differently because we’re in the porn industry,” Team Tyler CEO and Wankus’ fiancé Tyler Faith stated. “Seymore makes everyone feel like family and he genuinely cares about us.”
Cares is an understatement as Satin has donated much of Tuesday night revenues over the years to various charities which include the HIV crisis, the ASPCA after Hurricane Katrina and with the help of Wankus, even hosted a fundraiser to add to the reward for the safe return of Tera Patrick’s dog, “Chopper”.
While some of the activities needed a bit of taming as a few of the jizz biz’s finest got occasionally carried away with sexual activity, the non-stop, never fail weekly party has only been victim to minimal drama. Wankus added, “I think in three years of sold out drinking, singing and partying, there have only been three fights. One out front (Cytherea’s man) and one punch settled that. One on the dance floor (Cytherea’s man) and one punch settled that. And the third one is hazy…I may have causes it…who knows (laughs)”.
Bringing in the third year, Sardos expects visits from some of their former hosts including Nicki Hunter, Jason Sechrest, Tee Reel and KSEXradio’s Flexx. Wankus will be in Boston but has prepared an appearance via satellite (okay, nice term for VHS tape). The first 200 guests who arrive will get brand new Porn Star Karaoke T-Shirts and there will be a new drink offered, a shot called “The PSK” in honor of the big night. The shot will then stay on the menu every day of the week and it’s a must try by everyone.
No door charge to all parties this Tuesday and Satin will also serve complimentary anniversary cake while supplies last (Steve Seidman’s in Houston…everyone should be okay).
