Albuquerque- Call it Pornotopia, round two. A film festival in Albuquerque's Nob Hill could be in for another fight with the city if more than half the flicks shown contain nudity.

In 2007, the adult film festival debuted at Nob Hill's Guild Theater, bringing with it crowds and controversy. Now, Pornotopia's director and the owner of adult shop Self Serve are back with a whole new lineup.

They say the movies have artistic merit and just happen to have nudity.

The city says last year, the movies at Pornotopia crossed the line. But instead of slapping organizers with fines, the city allowed organizers to shut down the festival.

City zoning official Matthew Conrad says the Guild is in the middle of a neighborhood and is not allowed to show films that are more than 50 percent pornography.

"If we feel that there could be a violation concerning adult amusement, we will notify them," Conrad said.

Some Albuquerque residents say the city is going too far.

"Art is in the eye of the beholder (and) if you don't like it, don't go," resident Danny Hudson said. "People should be letting them express themselves however they want, as long as they are not hurting anyone else."

Others say Pornotopia doesn't belong in Nob Hill.

"This is terrible. If you're going to do that, go to your own part of town because it's not wanted around here," Carlos Sanchez said.

This year's Pornotopia has the ACLU on its side, but the director says she is working with the city to make sure things run more smoothly. The festival runs from Nov. 14 to 16.
