Private DVDs To Be Available at Airports

BARCELONA — Private Media Group Inc. announces the inauguration of the first Travel Retail point of sale in Vienna with further locations set to roll-out throughout 2004.
Private Media Group’s first Travel Retail point of sale at Vienna International Airport marks the first step of the establishment of a new DVD distribution channel for Private. In cooperation with the world’s foremost Travel Retail operator, The Nuance Group, Private has taken its world leading brand in high class Adult Entertainment into the prestigious group of brands available to the international air traveler.

Vienna International Airport handled a total of 12 million passengers in 2002, and with 3.2 billion air travelers annually passing through airports worldwide the potential size of the Travel Retail channel for Private is significant. Today only one adult DVD retailer is turning over EUR 1.5 million annually at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport alone.

Private’s exclusive collection of DVDs carry a discreet Travel Retail specific packaging and are presented in dedicated Private branded point of sale units. The Vienna roll-out is followed by expected roll-outs in other locations in Spring 2004. In addition to Nuance, Private Media Group is currently in talks with other major players in the Travel Retail Business in order to develop this opportunity on a worldwide basis.

Berth Milton, President and CEO of Private Media Group, said: “We are delighted to have the backing of The Nuance Group for this project. High traffic and healthy margins make Travel Retail a distribution channel with significant revenue and profit potential for Private. We are already receiving extremely positive feedback from the roll-out in Vienna. Together with The Nuance Group’s experience and expertise in Travel Retail, Private’s position as the leading brand in the adult industry makes us uniquely suited to enter into such an exciting venture. We are very keen to roll-out this format across the world over the next few years.”

The Nuance Group is the world’s number one airport retailer operating more than 400 stores at 63 airports in 19 countries with a total of 5,500 staff. Nuance is known for its large portfolio of retail shops, including attractive duty-free shops as well as over 50 tried and tested specialist concepts for diverse product categories and target customer groups. In 2002 Nuance was voted “Travel Retailer of the Year” by the prestigious Frontier travel retail magazine.
