Michigan- Alycia Martin filed a motion Monday to get misdemeanor prostitution charges against her dropped, because the search of a Troy hotel room where she was allegedly paid $150 for sex was conducted without a warrant.
In February, the 20-year-old Westland woman was allegedly paid for sex by Tom Athans, the husband of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich.
Martin was before 52-4 District Judge William Bolle for the hearing. Martin, who declined to comment, is free on a $100 bond. She’s scheduled to return to court June 3, when Bolle could issue a ruling on the motion.
Troy Lt. Gerard Scherlinck said officers did not have a warrant but that there are exceptions to that rule. He declined to discuss such exceptions.
Athans was not in the courtroom Monday. The 47-year-old radio talk-show executive isn’t facing charges after agreeing to testify against Martin.
