From the sounds of it, it’s getting pretty humid in Bayou country.
from www.bayoubuzz.com – After a press statement issued on behalf of porn-star Stormy Daniels–who now might run for US Senate as a Republican–both the Louisiana Republican Party and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) have issued statements attacking the Louisiana Democratic Party, Rep. Charlie Melancon and Stormy Daniels.
The Daniels press statement said she will announce on April 15 whether she will run for US Senate and if she does so, it will be as a Republican She is currently a Democrat.
Daniels gained national prominence when she went on a listening tour in Louisiana last year. Daniels would be running against the current US Senator, David Vitter (a republican) and Vitter (a democrat). Some critiques of porn star who might be a US Senate candidate said she was engaging in a publicity stunt to embarrass David Vitter.
Ever since she was arrested in a domestic dispute case and her spokesperson’s car mysteriously caught on fire, Daniels has not been an issue in the US Senate race. Currently, it is reported that Vitter holds a double digit lead against his democratic opponent, Melancon.
Both the press statement from the Louisiana Republican Party and the National Republican Senatorial Committee were received by Bayoubuzz within minutes of each other. The statements are very similar in content.
Here are the press statements:
National Republican Senatorial Committee
Good afternoon –
In reporting on Stormy Daniels’ entrance into the Louisiana Senate race, please consider the following response and background information from the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC):
“It’s telling that Charlie Melancon’s campaign is doing so poorly that his campaign manager had to recruit his old friend and former colleague from past Democrat political campaigns to run Ms. Daniels as a Republican sideshow. Louisiana voters deserve better than shameless antics like this from Melancon and his Democrat friends.” – Amber Marchand, NRSC Press Secretary
Background Information:
· Stormy Daniels indicates she has been approached by group of “politicians in Louisiana” to run against Senator David Vitter.
· As recently as last week, Louisiana Democrat operative Brian Welsh was identified as her “spokesman.”
· The Louisiana Democratic State Central Committee pays $44,000 and $39,000 respectively to operatives Bradley Beychok and Brian Welsh for their efforts in Louisiana Victory 2008.
· Welsh also served as communications director for Walter Boasso’s (D-LA) 2007 gubernatorial campaign. Beychok is listed as a contact for a 2007 Boasso fundraiser.

Stormy-Melancon Alliance At It Again
(Baton Rouge) – Charlie Melancon’s campaign must be fully in desperation mode if they’ve resorted to coaxing the publicity stunt known as Stormy Daniels for U.S. Senate into a Republican primary against Senator David Vitter. It’s pretty pitiful that a candidate recruited by Louisiana Democrats and staffed by Louisiana Democrats would think they had any place in a Republican primary.
The following are four questions the media should ask Daniels:
1) On February 9, 2009 you said on CNN that you were approached by group of “politicians in Louisiana” to run for Senate. Specifically which Louisiana politicians recruited you?
2) Why did you choose known Democrat operatives as your campaign staff?
3) As you know, your spokesman has been a paid employee of the Louisiana Democratic Party. How long have you known that your spokesperson and Charlie Melancon’s campaign manager have worked together on numerous occasions?
4) How often do you and your staff communicated with Charlie Melancon and/or his staff about your bid for Senate?
