Residents rally against proposed strip club

FALL RIVER, Mass.— www.turnto10.com- Residents of a Fall River neighborhood rallied Monday against a proposed strip club.

People who live in the Rodman Street area said the Martinique strip club would be right in the middle of their neighborhood, near a school and bus stops.

They also worry about traffic, parking and crime.

City Council member Steven Camara wants an adult entertainment zone established away from residential areas in the Fall River Industrial Park.

But Gary Lund, the man who has proposed the club, said his property is zoned for business.

“They can’t legislate now, after the fact, something that they don’t want done. They can’t legislate that away from me, deprive me of what I want to do,“ Lund said.

The issue goes before the city licensing board at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Lund said he’ll sue the city if his bid is denied.
