Mississippi- The federal sentencing scheduled today for former Jackson strip club owner Jon Adams has been delayed until November 5.
In June, Adams was convicted by a federal jury in Jackson of filing false tax returns for 1999 and 2000.
Adams’ attorney Frank Trapp has filed a motion seeking to gain access to some prosecution records he claimed weren’t provided to the defense during discovery.
A judge has yet to rule on the motion.
Adams faces a maximum of three years in prison and a $100,000 fine on each count.
The government said Jon Adams had substantially more income than the $227,415 he reported in 1999 on his amended return and the $400,423 he reported in 2000, according to court records.
In 1999, Adams was instrumental in the conviction of former Jackson city council president Louis Armstrong.
Adams had told authorities that he paid money to Louis Armstrong and the councilman’s son, Artie, to secure a favorable vote for rezoning his club so it could operate legally in Jackson.
