from www.radaronline.com – A personal trainer who worked at the same gym attended by Rebecca Nalepa has told RadarOnline.com that the 32-year-old was a “happy and responsive person” that “had everything to live for.”

As RadarOnline.com previously reported Nalepa was found dead, hanging naked with her hands and feet bound from a balcony of her wealthy boyfriend Jonah Shacknai’s home last week.

The mysterious death is still being actively probed by San Diego police. It came only two days after Shacknai’s six-year-old son Max Shacknai suffered a fatal fall at the historic Spreckles Mansion while being watched by Nalepa.

The shocking nature of the deaths has sent shockwaves through the upscale neighborhood of Coronado where multi-millionaire pharmaceutical boss lived with his girlfriend.

Local trainer Reed Holman – who spoke with Nalepa just days before she died – is completely bewildered by her death.

He told RadarOnline.com: “She had everything to live for, she was young, fit and really beautiful.

“The last time we spoke she asked me what routine and area I was working-on and she told me she was planning for a party.

“She was a super-fit woman who definitely knew how to work-out and take care of her body.

“Sometimes she would come-in and train with her boyfriend here at Hollywood Fitness gym in Coronado but more often she would train alone.

“She was around 5 ft 7 inches tall and between 130 lbs and 140 lbs in weight but a lot of that was muscle tone – she was a strong woman.

“In my opinion she would have been capable of tying her feet and hands together and hanging herself although I know this seems unlikely to a lot of people.

“Whether she did or not I don’t really know because I’m not a detective – it’s a really sad story all round because she seemed like a really happy and responsive person.”

San Diego Sheriff’s Captain Tim Curran has described Nalepa’s death as ‘very bizarre’

He added: “There are some very unique ways people can take their own lifes – if it was determined to be a suicide, people will do some very bizarre things.”

It’s understood that Jonah Shacknai was not home during his son’s fall or when his girlfriend was found dead – the couple had been dating for two years.

The San Diego Medical’s Examiner’s Office has not released any information about how Nalepa might have hung herself while her writs and ankles were bound or about what materials were used to bind them.

Jonah Shacknai’s founded pharmaceutical giants Medicis and has been chief executive and chairman since 1988.

The company makes dermatological and aesthetic pharmaceutical products and took $700 million in revenue last year.

back story: CORONADO, Calif. – from www.cbsnews.com – – Police say a nude woman was found hanging from a balcony, her hands and feet bound, at a mansion in Coronado, Calif. Wednesday.

According to CBS affiliate KFMB, investigators identified her as 32-year-old Rebecca Nalepa, also known as Rebecca Zahau.

The victim was the girlfriend of multi-millionaire Jonah Shacknai, who police say owns the home. They had been dating about two years.

Jonah’s brother Adam Shacknai discovered the Nalepa’s body and called 911 early Wednesday and reported that a woman, who was staying at the home, was in distress, according to deputies. After Adam Shacknai found Nalepa’s body hanging by a rope from a balcony, he cut her down. Nalepa’s hands were tied behind her back and her feet were also bound together.

An autopsy is being completed Thursday by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office.

Once police officers and paramedics arrived Wednesday morning, paramedics performed life-saving measures on the woman. But despite those efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are calling the death suspicious but have not ruled out the possibility of suicide.

“It appears to be some type of a violent death, and I’m not going to compromise the integrity of the investigation by giving anything more than that at this time,” San Diego County Sheriff’s Dept. Capt. Tim Curran said.

The Spreckels Mansion, once owned by San Diego magnate John D. Spreckels, was built in 1908. It sits on 12,751 square feet of property with a 115-foot unobstructed view of the beach. Spreckels also owned the nearby Hotel del Coronado, in addition to many other properties and businesses.

The mansion is now owned by Shacknai, who Forbes Magazine identifies as the CEO of a Healthcare/Biotech firm in Scottsdale, Arizona called Medicis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Shacknai and his family live in Arizona and stay at their Coronado mansion during the summer months. According to records, Shacknai purchased the home in 2007 for $12.7 million.
