WASHINGTON, D.C.— www.avn.com reports that the jury in the John Stagliano obscenity trial has been selected.
Out of a panel of 46 potential jurors, five men and seven women between 30 and 55 years of age were chosen. The panel includes one white man and one white women; the rest are African American.
Judge Richard J. Leon dismissed the jury for the day and ordered them to report back to the jury room at 10:15 Tuesday morning, in expectation that the trial would begin with opening statements by the attorneys to commence at 10:45.
The trial was attended by, among others, Joey Silvera—director of Storm Squirters 2, one of the allegedly obscene movies—as well as actress Aurora Snow and of course Stagliano’s wife, Karen, herself a former performer.
The judge noted that he would soon be delivering a formal opinion on the question of how much of the two charged full-length movies he would allow to be played in the courtroom. He indicated, however, that under no circumstances would the defense be allowed to play the movies in their entirety.
