Porn Valley- So much for the adult industry sucking up to state assemblyman Paul Koretz at Night of the Stars. After being named an honorary chamber of the event, Koretz did the honorable thing, apparently, by calling for mandatory condom use in the adult industry.
In either or language, Koretz indicates that if the industry doesn’t comply with what he terms a “sensible request,” it would open the door for government mandates further down the line. Koretz is of the belief that the only means to effectively minimize the transmission of HIV and STD’s is through the appropriate use of condoms “in every film production, photo shoot or Internet performance featuring sexual intercourse.”
Koretz, this past June, chaired a hearing in Van Nuys that brought leaders from the adult industry together with state health reps to discuss safety in the adult film business. Based on input from that hearing, among Koretz’s proposals would be a ban on ejaculating into a female body cavity, including the mouth, rectum or vagina and the obligatory use of a diaphragm for vaginal intercourse.
Also in the proposals would be twice monthly HIV testing using PCR DNA. There would also be monthly testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis. Koretz is also advocating a condom for non-oral intercourse after initial penetration.
“This practice, often called ‘dipping,’ states Koretz, “involves the momentary filming of initial penetration without a condom and before the discharge of pre-ejaculate, followed by the hidden use of a condom for the remainder of the scene. This practice may reduce the risk of HIV infection, but is only a less desirable minimum of protection for performers. No performer should ever be asked to perform unprotected non-oral intercourse for any duration of time, but this compromise may empower performers to reduce their risk and still accommodate a producer’s request for unprotected sex, however irresponsible it may be.”
