Los Angeles, CA, United States fdrom www.allheadlines.com – Steven Seagal’s sex case has been put on hold. The suit filed by ex-employee Kayden Nguyen was postponed in favor of arbitration next month.
According to eonline.com, the action star’s attorney, Marty Singer, filed a motion to compel arbitration to have the case stalled until after that motion is heard in court next month.
He said, “Last Friday, we filed the motion to stay the lawsuit. We filed an arbitration against Nguyen on Monday. Yesterday the court granted our ex parte application to stay the case pending the hearing on our motion to stay the case being heard in May.”
Singer claims that under Nguyen’s employment contract, any claims she makes against him must be settled through an arbitrator and not in court.
The next hearing is scheduled for May 27.
Meanwhile, Nguyen’s witness, Blair Robinson, a granddaughter of soul music pioneer Ray Charles, apparently never had an inappropriate encounter with the 58-year-old “Under Siege” star.
Damian Ross, a longtime friend and band member of Charles, told TMZ that he was the one who set up a meeting between Robinson and Seagal at a Memphis hotel in 2004 so Seagal could interview her for the position of personal assistant.
He tells TMZ that she never had a hotel room where the aikido black belter was staying, adding he was present with her during her entire 10 to 15 minute encounter with Seagal. He also says Robinson and Seagal were never alone.
Robinson claims in her sworn declaration that her mother called Ross immediately after the incident and instructed him to get her home. But Ross claims that it did not happen, telling TMZ, “If her mother would’ve called me that night and told me what had happened I would have kicked his a** myself.”
Singer maintains that Robinson was never employed by Seagal.
