Orange County, California – from www.southfloridagaynews.com – Internationally-renowned porn star Robert Kovarik, 40, known to his legions of fans as “Robert van Damme,” was arrested last Friday, May 21 on charges of domestic violence and contempt of court in Orange County, California, SFGN has learned.
His bond was set at $100,000, and his booking sheet lists his occupation as an “Escort.”
The muscular “power top” runs his own porn studio, RVD Films LLC, where he directs and stars in gay sex flicks. His company’s website is still up and running, offering visitors a montage of graphic gay porn. The site also offers workout videos and an account of his brutal fitness regimen.
The last post on Kovarik’s Twitter page, dated May 10, exhorts followers to vote for him in the Trendy Awards’ “Best Sex Scene” category. The award is likely far from Kovarik’s mind now that he’s locked up in prison – a prison very much more real than the studio jailhouse in which he performed a cavity search on a young inmate for the multiple Grabby award-winning porn film, Justice.
Robert van Damme isn’t playing a cop this time, and the charge of domestic violence may be the least of his troubles.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirms that the Czech Republic native has been hit with a federal detainer that prevents him from bonding out of state prison. Even if he were to post his $100,000 bail, he would be held in federal custody and brought before a United States magistrate judge.
“I can’t comment on what he’s wanted for abroad because that’s not of a public record,” said Nicole Navas, a spokeswoman for ICE in Miami.
“I can just confirm that ICE special agents placed a detainer on him.”
Van Damme has performed for Falcon and Mustang Studios, but now runs RVD Films, LLC., with his wife, who manages the company. It is expected he will be brought before a U.S. magistrate judge tomorrow morning, where he can potentially face deportation or extradition proceedings.
Stated Ric Rosenbaum, a prominent Federal criminal defense attorney in Fort Lauderdale, “The state could drop the charges and allow the demanding country to remove him immediately. Depending on the severity of the allegations against him, the Feds could move very quickly.”
