from www.abc15.com – Police say a teacher’s aide at a middle school in Phoenix was arrested Thursday for engaging in sexual acts with two teen students.
The principal and teachers at Western Valley Middle School near 59th Avenue and Buckeye Road learned Thursday that 20-year-old Gabriela Antoinette Compton sent a picture of her breasts to some male students, said Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson.
The pictures ended up circulating around the school and a female student who saw the photos told school officials.
Police were contacted, and officers arrived at the school with detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit, Thompson said.
Detectives found out during the investigation that Compton had engaged in sexual acts with two students, a 14-year-old male and a 13-year-old male, Thompson said.
Compton was arrested at her home near 67th Avenue and Van Buren Street and admitted that she was involved in the incidents, Thompson said.
According to court paperwork, Compton admitted to having sex with the 14-year-old boy and to letting the 13-year-old boy fondle her.
The paperwork also reveals Compton told investigators she did it because she felt if she didn’t the boys would not talk to her anymore and because she did not have any other friends.
Compton was booked in the Maricopa County Jail on four counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of sexual abuse, and one count of furnishing obscene material to a minor.
The school district issued a statement saying:
“On March 24, 2011, Fowler Elementary School District notified Phoenix Police Department that
one of their Principals had received an allegation from a student concerning Ms. Gabriela Compton.
Ms. Compton was hired on October 18, 2010 as an instructional aide in a Special Education Resource classroom.
The District verified that she was issued a valid fingerprint clearance by the FBI on October 26, 2010 and the State of Arizona, Department of Public Safety on October 27, 2010.
To the district’s knowledge, there is no criminal history. The district is extending its full cooperation to officials investigating this matter.”
