CHATSWORTH, Calif. — from www.xbiz.com- AVN has announced the postponement of the first-ever AVN Novelty Expo Europe, originally planned May 25-26 in Amsterdam, citing the global economy and influenza outbreak as its main concerns.
“Interest in the show was dampened by a worsening global economy that we could not have predicted when the show was first launched, leading numerous buyers and exhibitors to request a postponement,” the show’s website states.
The statement also mentions the recent H1N1 influenza — aka swine flu — outbreak caused several exhibitors to cancel their travel plans, and the company felt the show would offer more value to the industry if scheduled at a later date.
Instead of offering a new projected show date, AVN Novelty Publisher Tony Lovett invites website visitors to share thoughts about rescheduling via a brief online poll.
“We value the support from our exhibitors and attendees, and always strive to produce the best possible events for all of our customers,” the statement concludes. “We know you would expect nothing less. Therefore, we believe it is in the best interest of all parties that we postpone the show to a later date.”
