I’ll never cease to be dumbfounded by the ignorance of the adult entertainment industry. I’m not saying we have a collective of uncultivated people, it’s just that when they get red-in-the-face they say ignorant things.
During the No on Measure B campaign the Twitter universe was lit up with sexual expletives describing Michael Weinstein and the AHF. Instead of taking the battle to Weinstein in calm, diplomatic ways, performers reached for the lowest common denominator. And now look what’s happening.
Not content to close the ranks in LA County on the condom issue, Weinstein has enlisted Assembly member Isadore Hall III [pictured] to push the issue as a statewide referendum. www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=57537
Born and raised in Compton, Hall represents the 64th district in the California State Assembly and, from what I’m told, his voting record suggests he’d much prefer to be on the other side of this issue. Which just goes to show that Weinstein has serious clout and must be pretty persuasive, which makes him a more formidable adversary than anyone gave him credit.
In June, 2011 the industry met with representatives of Cal/OSHA, an opportunity where this matter could have been tucked away, settled amicably and never been allowed to go to the voting booth. But nooooooooo. We had three intellectual blowhards from the business who mouthed off to the Cal/OSHA people, and the meeting turned into a lynch mob.
The events you’re witnessing now are all a byproduct of that confrontation. See if you can guess who porn’s three wisemen are…and send them a Valentine’s Day card while you’re at it.
