Toronto –-– Highly acclaimed Vivid director Tristan Taormino won big at the 2nd Annual Feminist Porn Awards, which took place in Toronto on June 1. Nicknamed “The Emmas” in honor of feminist godmother Emma Goldman, the Feminist Porn Awards celebrates erotic directors who have revolutionized porn.
Taormino, best known for creating a ‘new style of Gonzo,’ was a presenter and winner for her work with Vivid Entertainment. Just twelve awards were presented at the ceremony, with Vivid receiving three. “Chemistry,” Taormino’s highly successful debut title for Vivid, received “Hottest Gonzo Sex Scene” and “Hottest Diverse Cast,” while “Best Feature” was awarded to “The Masseuse” by Vivid’s Paul Thomas, the most honored director in the history of the adult industry.
Taormino was awarded “Hottest Anal Adventure” for her directorial talent at the first Feminist Porn Awards in 2006 and continues to receive the accolades she deserves since joining Vivid. “Chemistry” is a bold, sexually experimental film that allowed Taormino to offer an uncensored, intimate look at seven stars who are left to their own devices for two days and told nothing is off limits. Since its release, “Chemistry” has received multiple awards and nominations, including the 2007 AVN Award for “Best Gonzo Release” and the 2007 Adam Film World Guide Award for “Best Couples Movie.”
“I am thrilled to be recognized by the Feminist Porn Awards for the second year in a row. The creative freedom Vivid gives me has allowed me to make the Chemistry series truly unique. I am especially happy that the cast won an award, since their passion and personalities are the driving force of the film,” declares Taormino.
Taormino is the author of three best selling books on sex and 14 anthologies. She conducts popular sex workshops across the country in addition to being a popular columnist for The Village Voice. Her latest endeavor, Vivid-Ed, represents sex education for a new generation. Further information can be found on the Vivid-Ed website at www.vivid-ed.com.
