from www.bostonherald.com – The big buzz on the Brady wire yesterday was not whether we were going to see Tom on the field against the Jaguars last night. Nope, making the big splash in Brady Nation were pics of baby Benjamin on the beach in the buff!
Fame photo agency yesterday released two dozen paparazzi pics of 20-month-old Benny and his mama, Gisele Bundchen, on a Costa Rican beach outing with friends and fam. There’s G and B in the waves! There’s Ben playing with his dump truck in the sand!
Only thing missing from this sunny scenario was Benny’s babyhood covered up in a bathing suit. And now the Sturm und Drang . . .
The pics, naturally, caught the eye of the boys at Barstoolsports.com, who immediately threw up two of the snaps — a zoomed-in photo of Ben doing the Full Monty, and another of his mother’s world-famous bum.
The comments about Gi’s asset were classic El Presidente, but the stuff said about the baby’s privates fueled outrage and ruckus on Twitter and sports talk radio. Also, Stool sultan Dave Portnoy received a cease-and-desist letter from a Brazilian photo agency demanding the pics be taken down. Which they were . . . until they went back up again!
“Generally we have to take them down when that happens,” Portnoy told the Track. “Our Web site-hosting company makes us. I put them back up actually because everyone else still has them up, too. But it’s only a matter of time till they are gone again.”
Meanwhile on the Twitterverse, football fans were ringing in with “Retweet if you think Albert Haynesworth should be allowed to stomp on the guy from Barstool Sports’ head for posting the Brady baby pic.” Then there was, “I hope you get shut down,” posted @xokathryn. “Real classy posting that picture of Brady’s son. Be more invasive and creepy.” And this one: “Barstool guy has to go,” tweeted @danhanscom. “Picture of Brady’s kid is child porn.”
“It’s a (expletive) little kid and his wee,” said an exasperated Portnoy, in a video he posted on Barstool while WEEI’s Glenn Ordway fielded calls from disgusted Brady fans. “It’s not nudity! If you consider this nudity or sexual, then you are (expletive) up in the head.”
from www.gather.com – David Portnoy is the sports blogger who posted a nude photo of Tom Brady’s son along with an inappropriate comment about the 20-month-old child’s penis. The ill-conceived move has sparked massive debate, gotten the writer banned from a local radio station, and stirred up talk of child pornography. In addition, the FBI has acknowledged being “aware” of the issue.
According to The Boston Herald, the blogger magnified the picture of Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady’s son and added the title “Check Out the Howitzer on Brady’s Kid.” Anyone would wonder why an adult would comment on any aspect of a toddler’s genitalia even if the child’s parents are massive celebrities.
If you thought that David Portnoy’s response to the public outrage he caused would be a profuse and immediate apology, you would be wrong. Instead, the blogger is complaining about radio station WEEI’s decision to ban him from their airwaves and claiming that station manager Jason Wolfe is “going whichever way the wind was blowing.”
Anyone with children, or common sense and decency, knows that posting a nude photo of Tom Brady’s son or any other child crosses the line. Making lewd comments about the toddler that highlight the boy’s genitals only drives the matter from poor taste into the realm of child porn. However, it is more likely that the only thing David Portnoy is guilty of is making a bad decision that may haunt him for the rest of his life. It remains to be seen whether a police investigation will ensue.
