TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — You might not know it until you see it, but Florida A&M officials ended up with a nice chunk of cash from the producer of a porn flick that misrepresented the school.
Attorneys for the university said Miami-based RK Netmedia, Inc. agreed to pay the school $105,000 to fully fund two scholarships in addition to $15,000 in attorney fees to settle a complaint filed in U.S. District Court last month.
The university’s mascot and school colors were displayed on a Web site as part of a porn video called “Big Rattler 77” – that school officials said damaged its reputation. The company acknowledged the video was not filmed at the school. Netmedia also agreed to apologize for releasing the video.
