After the disaster that was Week 4, the Adultfyi football pool’ers were able to regain some of their dignity with a Sunday that saw Karl The Birdman strengthen his hold on first place by three games with an 11-3 record. Four others were 10-3 and eight members had 9-4 records.

Matt Leinart’s broken collarbone put Kurt Warner back on the first string. It also gave him a chance to relive the glory days, producing three touchdowns against his old team, one in his typical relief role and two more after Leinart was hurt late in the first half of the Arizona’s victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Warner and Edgerrin James scored controversial touchdowns on short runs, helping the Cardinals (3-2 ) win for the third consecutive season in their former home base.
TEXANS 22, DOLPHINS 19 Kris Brown kicked five field goals, including the winner on a career-long 57-yarder with one second left, to lead the Texans over the Dolphins (0-5 ), losers of eight consecutive. Brown tied an NFL single-game record with three field goals of more than 50 yards. He hit two 54-yarders earlier in the game. No one had kicked one longer than 53 yards in the NFL this season.
JAGUARS 17, CHIEFS 7 Controlling the line of scrimmage, the Jaguars held the Chiefs to a shocking 10 yards rushing Sunday en route to a dominating victory that had Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City rocking with boos. Two-time Pro Bowler Larry Johnson had only 12 yards on nine carries, 126 fewer than he rolled up on Dec. 31 in Kansas City’s 35-30 victory over these same Jaguars.
PATRIOTS 34, BROWNS 17 Tom Brady threw for three touchdowns, tying an NFL record with at least three in each of his first five games, Junior Seau grabbed two interceptions, and New England became the first team to start a season with five victories by at least 17 points. The Patriots never trailed as they moved to 5-0 for the third time in club history.
