Part of this was going to be a recommendation for Felix J.Palma’s extraordinary new novel The Map of Time [Atria Books].
And for all I know, it might still be, unless I veer totally off course. The Map of Time’s an ingenious page-turning fantasy involving the possibilities of time travel with the generally recognized father of Sci-Fi, H.G. Wells, playing a central role in the debate about parallel universes, the altering of future events and other crazy theories Einstein would be putting forth years later.
Even though Wells himself wrote an enormously popular book about the idea, his character in the Palma novel discounts the practicalities of traversing time as a commuting alternative.
