The late and legendary George Plimpton drew an assignment to write about the porn industry.

I met Plimpton at an AVN awards show pre-party in Las Vegas. I would have figured Plimpton to have been some privileged WASP yuppie asshole, but he wasn’t that at all. Maybe it was because we were both shit-faced that I found him to be very amiable company.

I told Plimpton all kinds of stories about butt fucking and wondered secretly whether he heard any stuff like that in the Detroit Lions’ locker room when he was writing Paper Lion. Plimpton called me a couple of times over the following month or two to check some facts and names, but I seem to recall the piece he eventually wrote didn’t include my anal stories. Oh well…
