Porn Valley- I don’t know. Maybe I should sue 20th Century Fox then log on to livinglarge.com. What am I rambling about you ask. Well, for one, it was reported on this site last Monday that 20th Century Fox is releasing a movie in March called The Girl Next Door- about a guy who discovers that the girl who has moved next door to him was a porn star, with Elisha Cuthbert playing the titled role. AVN pretty much ran the same story the following day with their touch to include the fact that one of the scenes takes place at the AVN AEE show.
As in the case of most reporters in this business being relative babes in the woods with no sense of history of what they’re reporting, AVN’s article kind of neglects to mention the fact that there’s already been a porn movie out by the same title, The Girl Next Door which stars Lexus Locklear. It was directed by Mitch Spinelli and released by Video Team, no less. And, guess what? The plot is about a guy who discovers that the girl living next door to him is a porn star. Imagine. The mainstream ripping off porn rather than the other way around! Now, how do I come by this fountain of useless information? Because I wrote the movie. In fact I wrote two movies because there was a sequel. Now I know what Hollywood’s going to say, that it was a coincidence. But, believe me, intellectual property lawsuits have been won against arguments a bit more convincing than the who knew defense. And the fact that there is a public record including a boxcover and an actual movie suggests that the coincidence argument isn’t something you could easily slide by with.
