In a perfect world, Will Ryder’s probably by now finished the two new Bradys parodies he began shooting last week. These must be making a mint for Hustler to be ordering two more. Maybe not Bernie Madoff money, but certainly very acceptable by today’s porn standards.

For the occasion, the Van Nuys studio is again transformed into an exact replica of pop TV suburbia, although I was half expecting it to look like a Third World sweat shop.

After all, last week the AIDS Healthcare Foundation told us in a number of unflattering press releases that’s the way the porn industry conducts business and even dragged Ryder’s company All Play Media [by way of Hustler] into a contentious battle over condoms.

Ryder and partner Scott David [David just opened a barbecue restaurant called The Smokin’ Joint] are amused that their company’s being recognized but annoyed in what context. Because the last thing you expect is controversy when your primary focus is satire and laughs. And the other last thing you expect to see on a porn shoot is under age seamstresses sewing clothes for Kathy Lee Gifford. Not literally, of course, but you get the idea.

Ryder’s wearing a goatee Beatnik-coffee house style. I ask him if there was a late night party in the Village. He has to think about that one for a moment. The hours get real long on these shoots, especially when you’re shooting two features simultaneously as Ryder was also doing with Flight Attendants – one day which went until 7 in the morning from early the day previous.

Before the referee even had a chance to blow the whistle for a timeout, Ryder was already doing a Monday Night football spoof. Now we have a Bradys encore.

Ryder shows me a photo from one of the real Brady TV episodes merely to point out the fact that these sets nail it almost to the precise artwork on the wall. As if he has to say it, Ryder says set designer Buddy Del Fuego isn’t fucking around when he sets out to re-create a mood.

Depending which of the two new Bradys turns out best, that’s the one Ryder will release first, which right now looks like the end of October. One of the storylines has the Bradys meeting the Partridge family with Marcia’s crush on Keith [Nick Manning] becoming a matter that needs to be strategically nipped in the universal sex symbol marketing bud.

Like Manning who does a guest spot, Payton Leigh reprises her role as Shirley, www.adultfyi.com/read.php?ID=28562 and turns the Brady household into a swingers convention.

In the other feature, Jan Brady’s attempt at learning the violin is excruciating. She figures this will make her popular at school, but her girlfriend Monica [played by Tanner Mayes] has a better idea, convincing Jan that learning to play the skin flute is the real way to go to win popularity among her male peers.

I ask Ryder how things are going with Mayes whose reverse bukkake exploits have become near legendary.

“Are we on or off the record?” asks Ryder who gives me a diplomatic answer that would fit the “on” the record category.

“I love her,” he says. “I think she’s a fantastic. She might be a lightning rod of controversy, but I can’t wait to work with her again. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her.”

The Bradys shoot is also about changes. Lexi Belle [pictured] replaces Teagan Presley [who had previous commitments] as Marcia while Dylan Riley takes over for Aurora Snow as Jan.

“OC Models recommended her [Riley],” explains Ryder. “She got the job immediately.”

However Kacey Jordan returns as Cindy, and Ryder thinks Jordan is “cute and sexy as hell.”

“She’s really been down for the company and has always come in when we needed her. I’d do anything for that girl.”

Belle, who was born in Baton Rouge, is more than a serviceable replacement for Presley from a physical standpoint. Actually, almost too sweet to be believed, too, that is, if you’re comparing the standard porn actress to a police lineup participant.

Belle has a scene in Marcia’s bedroom with newcomer Seth Gamble. Gamble’s playing the school football jock whose choice of clothes must be from the John Holmes catalogue, although Gamble apparently had a contract with the more trendy Abercrombie & Fitch. That was cancelled, though, upon the discovery that Gamble had done a porn movie.

Gamble, who went on to work much more doing Internet scenes in Florida, isn’t as well known in Porn Valley, and he’s a little concerned about that. But his dick which must be at least the length of a yard marker when aroused appears unfazed.

Belle, bare foot in the scene, is chomping at the bit to get out of her dress, and it’s a moment worth savoring. Which is the way good porn should be.
