from www.houston.cbslocal.com – According to prosecutors, a female teacher has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student; officials stated that other encounters between the teacher and student took place at the school.
Thirty-year-old Amanda Feenstra, a dance teacher at Humble High School, has been charged with improper relationship with a student. The Humble Independent School District police stated that the student who has since graduated, came forward after she said, Feenstra stalked her by going to her place of employment and constantly calling her.
Authorities stated that Feenstra engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with the student from August 2010 to November 2011. The student was a member of the school’s “Wild Cadets” dance team and was 17 years old when the relationship began.
Additional reports indicate that the student said one day Feenstra approached her saying she was “really attracted to her and would like to get to know her.” It was then that the student and Feenstra began spending time together.
The student also told authorities that most of their sexual encounters took place at Feenstra’s home while her husband was away. Both the student and Feenstra met at school and various sporting events for additional sexual encounters. The teen said the two of them had so many sexual encounters that she could not remember them all.
As time progressed, the teen reportedly began feeling “trapped” and she told Feenstra that she loved her but did not want to continue the relationship.
The teen thought that she was rid of Feenstra upon graduating from school, but according to further court documents, Feenstra began to stalk her, showing up at the teen’s job unannounced and uninvited, and calling the teen on the phone.
The teen then stated that she did not have any other choice but to tell another teacher. The 17-year-old also told police that the reason that she waited so long to tell someone of the relationship between she and Feenstra, was due to embarrassment.
Feenstra resigned from Humble ISD in 2011. From 2009 to 2011, she worked as the dance and drill team instructor at Humble High School.
The teacher whom the teen confided in, then told the assistant principal, who then informed the head principal and authorities were notified. Feenstra was taken into custody and her bond was set at $30,000.
