When it comes to porn performing, for my money Debi Diamond stands along side Bret The Hitman Hart as the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

Debi, who was the 1994 AVN Female Performer of The Year, was truly psychotic in front of the camera. No doubt she did her best work for Bruce Seven, and if a scene called for an oil rig to be shoved up her ass, so be it.

Jenna Jameson, on the other hand, never won Female Performer of The Year – unless you count fans awards which I don’t- and there’s a good reason for her omission on that list. Critics knew better. The talk at AVN was, ‘Do you get it?’ ‘No.’ ‘What’s the big deal?’ Jenna Jameson was no Debi Diamond.

Jameson, in her retirement, reserves her best acting these days for off camera hijinx, whether she’s turning into a duck from all the plastic surgery, ditching an autograph signing to hang out with Perez Hilton, ramming her Maserati into a telephone pole or assaulting, allegedly, her assistant with brass knuckles.

It’s gotten so bad that Tito Ortiz has become the voice of reason in the Jameson dynamic. When Tito is intervening and taking away your kids, perhaps it’s time to rethink your life.

Jameson’s claim to fame was that she was cute. In that sense she was the Lillian Gish of porn, and she can credit the success she’s achieved to Joy King at Wicked Pictures. I remember when Joy King used to push tape for Caballero. Then, all of a sudden she becomes a queen maker when she moves over to Wicked Pictures in 1995.

The fact that Jameson was named Best New Starlet in 1996 was most of King’s doing. Unfortunately, Chasey Lain who was Wicked’s first contract girl moved over to Vivid before King arrived on the scene and couldn’t benefit from the King magic. Chasey’s downward spiral is the story movie’s are made of. Interestingly, the one thing Chasey and Jenna have in common is that they both shared the bed of Jay Grdina the brains behind Club Jenna.

Thanks to King, however, Jameson always seemed to be booked on the Howard Stern show. Stern even found a spot for her in his biopic Private Parts, and the talk on the street was Jameson was doing Stern.

At least that’s the impression you got from Seymore Butts’ ex, Alysha Klass, who made a few appearances herself on the show and swears there was monkey business going on, claiming that she was one of the monkeys.

Klass, who had fling with Bruce Willis that made the tabloids, was loonier than a Warner Bros. cartoon so, who knows. But no sooner does Klass relate the story to me, then Stern’s wife is filing for divorce. Coincidence?

Also credit King, or someone over at Wicked, for doing the Tony Robbins-thing, motivating Jameson and getting her to the set. And if you think I’m kidding about Jameson’s fabled recalcitrance, read her autobiography, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Jameson has a bone to pick with the world. Granted, no woman should have to experience some of the things she did as a young girl, but there is a time to pick up and move on.

The only taint, as I see it, on King’s fabled career was the decision by Wicked [King probably had nothing to do with it] to bring Octomom into the stable if only for one performance.

There’s not enough keys on my keyboard to elaborate on that subject. And as spectacular as King is at her job, [NBC News, too, must have thought so because they profiled her about five years ago] there are some sow’s ears you simply can’t make silk purses out of.
