from www.lep.co.uk – Controversy over a porn star taking part in a family wrestling event has lead to her pulling out of the show.
Michelle Thorne, who has starred in a string of adult movies, had promised to deliver “full on glamour” at the Preston City Wrestling (PCW) Supershow 2 event.
But after the booking came under fire, she quit the show, forcing PCW owner Steven Fludder to find a new valet to accompany former WWE star Scott Steiner into the ring at Lava & Ignite on May 31.
Mr Fludder said: “She approached me on Twitter, it’s not like I went out to find a porn star.
“She said her husband’s a wrestler, she’s a fan of Scott Steiner, and she’d do it for free.
“I think she’s cancelled because she didn’t want any negative publicity getting out there with the other jobs she does.”
He added: “It takes a certain type of person to want to go out there in front of 800 people.
“I’ll just probably end up booking a lap dancer that nobody’s heard of.”
Vicar of Preston, Father Timothy Lipscomb, said: “You have to be very careful at these types of events.
“I think was a bit sensational to book that kind of act, but I suspect it was to attract some of the parents.
“You can’t condone someone for what they do, but you have to careful they are not promoting themselves.”
Before she quit the event, the 37-year-old told the Evening Post: “I think it is absolutely ridiculous that people get upset about me attending an event just because of my job.
“There is a massive stigma attached to what I do, but all I am doing is what loads of people do themselves – just to a camera.
“I have probably slept with a lot less men than the average woman, but people perceive I am something I am not because of the work I do.
“I get really annoyed when people ask me whether I should be at family events.”
She said: “I will be acting sad if he’s losing or trying to whip up the crowd if he’s winning.
“He is quite a well-known wrestler, so I was planning to give it ‘full on glamour’ in my costume.”
She said she had visited Preston in the past doing vox pop interviews with people in the city centre for Playboy TV.
She appeared on reality television show, The X-Factor, in 2007 and reached the ‘boot camp’ stage when she was mentored by Sharon Osborne.
She was dropped when the show found out about her porn past.
