from www.heraldsun.com.au – A STRIPPER was ordered in as part of wild premiership celebrations for a group of junior footballers.
The teenagers from a Bayside football squad lapped up the adult entertainment after a grand final triumph, reported the Herald Sun.
The Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League is investigating the bizarre incident involving players from the East Brighton Vampires under-16 football team.
It followed the side’s official premiership party at a Brighton hotel.
Vampires president Greg Wallace confirmed an adult entertainer had been present but was not sanctioned by the club.
“A group of players and other acquaintances moved to a private home where they (held) a private party,” Wallace said.
“Alcohol was consumed … and there was adult entertainment in the form of a stripper.
He said the club took its responsibilities seriously and expected parents to do the same.
“We do not condone adult entertainment which degrades women,” Wallace said.
“It has no place in the community, let alone among minors.”
Wallace said the club would grill its members and take disciplinary action where necessary.
Australian Childhood Foundation spokesman Joe Tucci said it was a terrible example to set.
“Winning a grand final is a milestone but to celebrate in that way is not right, he said.
“Its also just a really disrespectful experience, disrespectful to women and the players and not what a club should be about.”
MSJFL general manager David Cannizzo has asked the club for a full explanation of what happened following the team’s last game of the season on September 4.
“I want to make it clear that we expect all players involved in end of season celebrations to behave in a responsible and lawful manner,” he said.
“This is the responsibility of not just clubs but also players and their parents.”
