> Jimmy D writes on www.simplyjimmyd.com: “I’m told the awards show was, as usual, highly forgetable. In this year’s ititeration, the venue was Mandalay Bay’s big, gymnasium-like, auditorium. From what I’ve been told, the masses, i.e., the masses of fans, didn’t exactly show up and pack the place full. I’m told about half the seats in the stands were empty.”
Gene adds: Veronica Rayne on KSEX Wednesday night had quite a bit to say about both the awards show and the way porn people were treated by the Venetian Hotel during the AEE. If half of what she says is true, than this industry needs to think about where it’s putting its dollars. The Rayne story will be posted later this morning. As one forinstance, Rayne reported that Kevin Rubio had $10,000 taken from his room safe at the Venetian and was told pretty much by the staff to fuck off when he complained. Rubio might have a different version of the story, but this is what was said.
> KSEX peejay Batman made a to-do of the fact Wednesday night that Paul Lindsey of The Hottest Girl in Porn pageant would call in to talk about charges made by Anjelica Lauren that the pageant was fixed. Nikki Benz, who was co-hosting the KSEX show and a contestant herself, had a few curious comments to make on her own about the pageant being fixed which we’ll address in a later article. When Lindsey didn’t call as advertised, Benz in a needling way, brought up the subject, and Batman told her Lindsey couldn’t be reached. Over the course of the two-hour show Lindsey never called.
> AVN.com writes: There were a lot of firsts at this year’s AVN Awards Show, but the one that can fairly be called the shocker of the night was the absence of Best New Starlet winner Naomi.
Naomi — a powerhouse of a performer who held viewers spellbound this past year in such releases as Naomi… There’s Only One (John Leslie/Evil Angel), Throb (Digital Playground), and Filthy (Third Degree Films) — is the only Best New Starlet winner in the history of the AVN Awards to not be present at the ceremony to collect her prize. AVN has been on the hunt for the elusive gal since the Awards Show in the hopes of obtaining an acceptance statement of some sort, but thus far, she has remained unreachable.
Gene adds: Meanwhile on the MIA front, although he didn’t show up for work the second day in a row, Mike Barbella finally called Patrick Collins Wednesday. He said something about oversleeping.
