New Jersey – Now Jason Kidd truly knows the meaning of the term battered husband.

Kidd’s spurned spouse socked him yesterday with a crunching counterclaim to his divorce petition that accuses the Nets star of bedding a half-dozen women and charges “years of physical abuse” that began before their marriage in 1997.

But considering his alleged sexual shenanigans, it’s a wonder he had the energy to hurt a fly.

Joumana Kidd accused the New Jersey Net All-Star point guard of cheating on her at every opportunity, enjoying liaisons in numerous NBA cities.

There were “strippers in Arizona, Sacramento, Miami, Dallas and Indiana.”

There was the “cheerleader in New Orleans.”

Out in Los Angeles, there was a woman named “Lisa.”

Closer to home, there was a Nets season ticket holder, a team employee and a woman named “Petra,” identified in court papers as “the sister of a teammate’s then-girlfriend.”

Joumana Kidd, 34, also claims her husband “engaged in sexual relationships with several different television reporters,” but she does not name them.

She also admitted to one of Jason Kidd’s bizarre claims – that she bugged his car with a tracking device. But she said her 33-year-old husband knew about it and “suggested that she leave the device on the car to confirm” he was being faithful to her.

Joumana Kidd, who lives with the couple’s three children in swanky Saddle River, N.J., has not spoken publicly about the split. Her lawyer, Raoul Felder, said her move to have her divorce papers sealed was denied.

“She is sad that it had to come to this,” Felder said in a statement. “She fails to understand Mr. Kidd’s motives in this apparently premeditated and malicious undertaking to hurt her, her children and even, in the last analysis, himself.”

Last night, Jason Kidd was in Las Vegas, where he will be attending tomorrow’s All-Star Game but will sit out because of a bad back. “I am not commenting on any of that stuff,” he said.

His lawyer, Madeline Marzano-Lesnevich, called Joumana Kidd’s move “retaliatory and gratuitously nasty.”

“It contains a fantastical array of information that is exaggerated, manipulated or just plain fabricated,” she said in a statement. “She can shamelessly say whatever she thinks will appear most salacious in her filing, but her bizarre allegations will be proven false when the facts … come out in court.”

Lots of money is at stake: Jason Kidd is in the fourth year of a $99 million, six-year contract with the Nets.

Joumana Kidd is seeking joint custody of the kids and is asking that they live with her. She is also seeking child support, alimony and compensation for the injuries and trauma she claims to have suffered.

In the papers, she describes herself as a victim of “recurring physical abuse and serial infidelity.”

She said that after years of abuse “she did begin to protect herself,” partially admitting her husband’s sensational claims that he was the one beaten by his petite wife.

But she contended that she only threw the “TV remote control” several times at her husband, “mostly when he taunted her while she was crying as a result of his abuse.”

In contrast, Joumana Kidd claimed, her husband went after her with everything from his feet and fists to a rock, baseball bat and candlestick – even when she was pregnant.

The 6-foot-4 point guard once “struck the defendant with her purse, knocking her unconscious,” according to the court papers, which first appeared on The Smoking Gun Web site.

On a flight back to New Jersey from Mexico, Jason Kidd hurled a large cookie like a “Frisbee” with such force that it cut her lip and caused her to drop their daughter, Jazelle, from her lap, the papers state.

Jason Kidd then “cowardly blamed the parties’ son for throwing the cookie.”

The Kidds’ ugly public meltdown emerged on Jan. 9, when the hoops star filed a divorce petition in which he claimed to be the victim of an “increasingly jealous and paranoid” woman who ran up huge bills and used their son to steal his cell phone from the Nets’ locker room.

Jason Kidd, who was once busted for punching his wife in the mouth in a dispute over French fries, insisted that she was the one who regularly resorted to violence. And if he complained, his wife threatened “to call 911 and file fictitious domestic violence reports,” his papers state.

Joumana Kidd was blindsided by his filing and was briefly barred from the family home when the NBA star took out an order of protection. The Nets also banned her from their facilities.

Jason Kidd later deleted the sensational litany of complaints against his wife in an amended filing and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce.

In her 27-page filing, Joumana Kidd said she was “deeply disappointed” by his ambush strategy and claimed he told her she wouldn’t need a lawyer “because the matter would be mediated.”

Joumana Kidd also denied using their son, Trey Jason, to spy on her husband. She said that while the Nets’ team doctors were examining the boy’s ears, she got the okay to fetch her husband’s car keys from his locker. It was then that she found the cell phone Jason Kidd had been hiding from her.

“On it, she found numerous text messages from various women, along with numerous photographs of naked women,” the papers state.

Calling him “extraordinarily self-absorbed and narcissistic,” Joumana Kidd portrayed her husband as a foul-mouthed binge drinker and excessive gambler who was $4 million in debt when they married. She claimed he tried to make up for hitting her by buying her a $585,000 pink diamond ring and a $550,000 diamond pendant. She described him as a man with an “excessive need for attention and chaos” who wove a web of “never-ending lies and stories.”

At the Kidds’ Saddle River home, a woman who answered the intercom said that Joumana Kidd was “very focused. She’s trying to spend as much time with her kids as possible. She’s doing fine.

“She didn’t want a measure of payback. She tried to have the record sealed.”
