(WORLD WIDE WEB) — E-Mail from James: I’ve actually never paid much attention to adult in general, but the Ron Jeremy sexual assault accusations apparently made it to local (Boston/Cambridge) radio according to a friend, and seeing that he’s a quasi-icon/pop culture novelty, I looked it up Friday figuring it was probably a safer bet than claiming my 8th grandfather died to bolt from my internship.
I ended up, pretty circuitously on your sites [TopProTalent.com and therealgeneross.com]. What amazed me the most was that all of the legitimate adult news sites that purport to actually have different departments, editors and writers with welding degrees, etc., either had nothing or pretty close to nothing, while both of your sites proved the only place with any kind of information.

Two sites under the “gossip” label run by both of you had the most content AND it was actually responsible gossip allowing everyone, however comically and self-incriminatingly stupid, some bandwidth. I’m assuming AVN.com is considered as close to an official/governing news and PR source for the industry and I’m fucking bewildered how they’re allowed to continue as such. Maybe my knowledge is cripplingly limited on the subject, but it was the kind of garbage spin one would expect from any industry newsletter that ends up in everyone’s trashcan uninterrupted from its receipt. The writing was not only biased, but some of the shittiest I’ve ever seen-it takes talent to make reading about sex that painful.

You two frankly had more actual news, and managed to make it funny and entertaining-congrats on figuring out you’re not writing about buying soybean futures on margin or whatever your fellow journalists seem to be stylistically gunning for.

Gene, you’re a solid, albeit lazy writer, but I think most of you guys get a little understandably jaded about your profession after realizing that 90% of Atlantic mags end up in waiting rooms somewhere. Mr. Lewis, you did a great job making porn girls from California human and fun (basically making the impossible possible?). I definitely can’t look at Ron Jeremy as the same cartoonish figure in music videos, etc. Unfortunately, it’s what you can prove rather than what you did, so he’ll probably come out relatively unscathed, which is a pity. That’s a lot of fucking smoke to be completely devoid of fire, and he fits into a pretty nasty profile, right down to working in a borderline industry where that kind of behavior doesn’t draw quite as much attention. Apply his behaviors to female analysts at Goldman Sachs or somewhere where a woman would be instantly credible, and the guy’s in jail the first time he does it.
Anyhow, keep up the good work, your sites honestly and surprisingly entertained me, I’ll come back to them for being fun and racy, but not fundamentally insulting my intelligence. Avn certainly has a large enough staff, I’d hope someone might catch on that if you’re intent on trying to convince people dumber than you what to think, it generally helps to be at least kind of smart yourself.
Fuck, even us people who had to do horrible and shameful things to finally get out of tufts and into Harvard for a useless but ego-soothing masters could figure that out (hey, if I’m going to spend the amount of time I did calling AVN writers dumb, I may as well). My apologies for rambling, I’ll definitely check out the radio thing and your future joint effort, best of luck, you’ve made a fan – James

Editor’s Note: No lazy reporting when we get together Gene! LOL
