from www.philly.com – A former teacher at a Montgomery County church school has been arrested on charges of having sex with a 15-year-old student she met at the school, Hatfield Township police said Tuesday.
Nicole Jacques, 25, of Maple Avenue, was arraigned on 20 counts each of involuntary sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, and corruption of a minor, as well as 10 counts of unlawful contact with a minor.
Jacques got to know the boy when she worked as a teacher at Calvary Baptist School in Lansdale, according to Police Chief Mark A. Toomey. After Jacques resigned in 2011, she continued to see the boy and their relationship became sexual, with the encounters occurring at Jacques’ apartment, Toomey said.
On Feb. 10, the boy’s father went to police to report the alleged trysts.
With the help of school officials, police determined that no illegal behavior had occurred while Jacques was employed by the school or on school property.
Randy Thaxton, chief school administrator, said in a statement Tuesday that he was “deeply saddened” by the arrest, and that the school would have no further comment.
Jacques was arraigned before District Judge Harry J. Nesbit III and released from the Montgomery County prison after posting $50,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for next Wednesday before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser in Souderton.
