Attention: Jason Sechrest’s date to appear at The Moon has been changed to April 16th.
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — When JASON SECHREST takes to the stage at Universal Citywalk’s Howl at the Moon next Monday, April 16th, he can add yet another title to his resume: Professional stand-up comic. The award-winning funny-man KSEXradio host, also famed for parodying RYAN SEACREST in “American Porn Star,” is now launching his career in stand-up comedy with his first act, “Fifteen Minutes of Shame.”
“I am excited to announce that I will be performing at the Hollywood Improv this Summer and before the big date, I’ve been lucky enough to be booked by a few famed restaurants, piano bars and comedy clubs to test my material,” writes SECHREST in his latest “Diary” blog.
So what are you in store for with SECHREST’s “Fifteen Minutes”? “If you’ve ever seen me host any events or shows, you already know the answer to that question,” he says. “You’re going to get lots of ME, the love child of LIZA MINNELLI and JIMMINY GLICK! And my entirely inappropriate view of the world at large.”
SECHREST was schooled in comedy and improv at the world-famous Groundlings in Los Angeles and was awarded The 2006 Orange County Theater Award for his comedic role in The Chance Theater’s production of The Eight. He is currently featured in producer/director STEVE BALDERSON’s new film Phone Sex along with fellow comedians PENN JILLETTE, MARGARET CHO and EDIE McCLURG.
The 27 year old comedic actor/host says he is meeting up with GayVN Awards host, KATHY GRIFFIN, on Thursday for her own personal “master class” on the art of stand-up. “I’m very, very fortunate,” he laughs. “I feel like this whole thing is fate for me right now and I really hope a lot of people come out and enjoy the show!”
Two dates for “Fifteen Minutes of Shame” have been confirmed with more to be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to the calendar at SECHREST’s mainstream site, JasonSechrest.com and his MySpace page at www.myspace.com/jasonsechrest for frequently updated dates, times and locations.
