Porn Valley- Domina 4, which is out this week on DVD from New Sensations, was shot about two months ago in Brazil. According to its director, John Bowen [aka John T. Bone] the production started out with the idea of incorporating a David Hamilton look [known for its diffused, gauzy style].
"The girls were in Victorian whites," Bowen notes. "Then I started doing some work with Inner Sanctum, a latex fashion company in London. For Domina 3 I had them design four costumes which worked very well. So before we did 4 I flew over to London and worked with the designers over there and we came up with a whole range of costumes specially designed for me which wound up using for Domina 4."
In keeping with a big budget feel, the movie opens in a niteblub Brothel, the kind very popular in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
"We have 20 Samba dancers on stage and then the club is filled with all the hookers and quite a few of their customers," Bowen notes. "The story extrends out of the club to a country mansion. Again, it's balanced between a David Hamiltonenque feel using some of the Victorian whites and corsets but incorporating a lot of latex costumes we had designed just for the movie."
There are five scenes- all anal, as one might expect with a Bowen production and a few d.p.s thrown into the mix. "And all of the stuff that's currently fashionable," states Bowen. "Of course it's extremely hardcore [lots of gaping] and very fetish oriented. It's on the cutting edge of being extremely nasty."
Noting that his history in porn is rich in costume drama, I was curious if Bowen gravitated to that fetish in his personal life. "I don't have a personal life," he quips. "But in moviemaking any fool can point a camera at the guy with his dick up a girl's ass.
"It takes very little talent to do that," he goes on to say. "What separates my movies from most other peoples' is that we pay a lot of attention to art direction and costuming to particular fetishes. And we spend a lot of money trying to make a better product. The basic concept of sticking a dick up a girl's ass- as wonderful as that is- can only be improved by costuming. If the general public didn't believe that, then lingerie wouldn't be a billion dollar industry. Women spends billions of dollars on making themselves more sexually alluring and more interesting to their men. Which is something the industry seems much more aware of these days because I'm noticing a lot of movies coming out with latex. I guess some spotty faced little guy making his third movie will be heralded as the god of pornography who's just discovered costuming."
