from www.nydailynews.com – Faith Hill won’t be waiting all day for Sunday night this fall.
The country star announced on Twitter Monday that she’ll no longer sing the intro to NBC’s Sunday Night Football. Her tune, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was a takeoff on the Joan Jett classic “I Hate Myself for Loving You.”
“Amazing 2 have been part of SNF – an honor. I’ve just let everyone there know it’s time 2 let someone else rock the open,” she tweeted. Hill, 45, added, “….Difficult decision. Kinda emotional. Love all u guys at SNF – I’ll b watching!!!”
Hill sang the intro theme from 2007 through last season; Pink sand the song in NBC’s first season hosting Sunday Night Football.
Fred Gaudelli, Sunday Night Football’s executive producer thanked Hill, tweeting, “Great love and appreciation to @FaithHill for six great years of rocking the SNF open.”
Hill’s replacement hasn’t been named. Cee Lo Green sang the open on NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football last season and ESPN’s Monday Night Football has gone with an instrumental intro since the network cut ties with Hank Williams Jr. after the “All My Rowdy Friends” singer said in 2011 that President Obama’s golf outing with House Speaker John Boehner would “be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.”
