Patricia Kennedy Felt Betrayed by Free Speech

Porn Valley- I had a lengthy chat with Patricia Kennedy Sunday afternoon. And, in one of the things we talked about, Kennedy, who’s now living on the east coast but plans to vacation in L.A. in June, has a much different take on the Pure Pleasure bust https://www.adultfyi.com/read.aspx?ID=2998 that occurred in Las Vegas in 1993.

Kennedy was one of the women in the adult business, known as The Erotic 11, who were arrested that night and charged with infamous crimes against nature. Kennedy still harbors grudges in the way The Free Speech Coalition handled that disaster. Kennedy said she also has a bitter taste in her mouth for Bill Margold, who was basically the ring leader of the event.

“Even now,” she says. “I don’t know if this is true or not but I’ve been told by a number of people that they had been warned not to do that show because it was going to get busted. But because Bill was such a glory hound he was going to push the envelope. None of us had dance licenses which we should have had. That was the beginning of the end for me for adult. Nina Hartley got bailed out by Free Speech but they wouldn’t bail the rest of us out. And that was such bullshit. They said they’d bail a member out but they won’t bail the rest of us out because it’s against their by-laws, that we had done something illegal.”

Kennedy said she felt betrayed by Free Speech. “When I saw Nina walking out- and I don’t hold anything against Nina- that’s when I found out that they would not bail the rest of us out because of something in their by-laws.” A lot of people subsequently put money up for bail including Arrow Productions’ Ray Pistol, www.xxxdeepthroat.com

Kennedy said, as a result of Free Speech’s stance she had to sit in jail six hours longer. “The money I personally spent to give to the lawyer [Dominic Gentile] I don’t want to talk about,” Kennedy says. Kennedy was surprised to hear that Gentile married one of the Erotic 11, Ariana.

“I thought he [Gentile] was hot when I first met him,” says Kennedy. “But he was married and just had a kid. When that shit comes up I’m, like, never mind. “I would have totally gone after him- he was hot.”

What also incensed Kennedy was the fact that her mug shot got on Hardcopy along with her real name. “And they printed my phone number and address in a Las Vegas newspaper. That was one of the most devastating things that happened to me. And that was all because someone was trying to show who was boss and what we can and cannot do in the adult industry.”

Kennedy said the experience would have been a hoot had there been a video camera in her cell. “At least for the first couple of hours because we were all so fuckin’ funny. We were full of piss and vinegar and making jokes. But I remember that distinctly. It’s imbedded in my brain. That’s why, at that moment, I refuse to support the Free Speech Coalition. At that point I refused to give money. Fuck that.”
