Sal the Director-update

Porn Valley- It wasn’t Sal the Stockbroker vying for Stuttering John’s job on Howard Stern. But it was Sal Genoa, a director for Anabolic who was a guest of Lani Lei and her boyfriend Csaba on KSEX, www.ksexradio.com Tuesday night.

“He makes the movies where all the sex scenes are, like, anal,” explained Csaba who tends to sound like a Third World Evan Seinfeld. Genoa said that’s because you can’t spell Anabolic without an A. Genoa started in the business in 1999 as a P.A. helping out on feature sets. “I picked up the camera and started doing gonzo work,” Genoa explains. “I paid my dues- 13, 14 hours a day, every day. I learned a lot. It was good.” Genoa said he took his time, paced things and now has a directing gig with Anabolic/Diabolic. “But it was a long road.”

The subject of the show was relationships in the business, and Sal said he gets that all the time from people who want to talk about them. “I’ve been there myself, believe me.”

Sal’s opinion on civilian girls can best be summed up: twice the work, half the fun. “It’s the truth. But with the porno girls comes a lot of things- you’ve got to be patient.” Sal’s also of the opinion that a porn girl won’t fall in love with a guy they’ve worked with for 20 minutes. “There’s no way. But when they come home and you’re ready for some, and they say, no, Mr. Marcus did anal with me I’m a little sore, you go, arrrrgh.”

Lei claims that didn’t apply to her that she’s never rejected sex with her at home lover. “Never, ever.” To explain, Lei said she’s getting fucked at work but she’s not getting fucked by the person she really wants.

Genoa said he must have been an idiot in his own porn relationships because he’d be loyal. Csaba said the same applied to him. “I’m loyal- I’m not a pimp; I’m not a player.” But, noting that he likes to flirt, Csaba said his comments to Lei dueing the onset of their relationship, were, he’s walked into the cage. “All I’m asking you, is, don’t try to shut that door. It ain’t gonna work. But as soon as I see you behind that door trying to close it I’m going to run. I want to know I have that option.”

To foster a successful relationship Genoa said you have to be secure with yourself to know that your partner’s just going to work. “Go to work, make your money and you’re always going to come back. But don’t drift from that.”

Genoa was asked his opinion of boyfriends outside the industry showing up on the set. “That’s fucked,” said Genoa. “I don’t think it’s right. As a director I always see boyfriends coming on the set with their girls. They’re [the girls] head isn’t in it as much as it would be if the boyfriends weren’t there.”

Genoa explained he has a rule- let the guy go in the other room. “I’ve literally had guys say I’m not leaving.” To which Genoa would then explain that he’s not going to get that energy that he needs. Csaba’s surmise was that some of the girl’s are thinking they might get a backhand at home if they look like they’re having too good of a time on set.

Csaba asked what the advantages or disadvantages of dating in the industry were. Genoa said he loved talking about the topic. “I love the fact that they can feel free about themselves, sexually. There’s no hangups.” Csaba questioned that, noting industry couples he’s known all seem to have “rules”: “I don’t want you to kiss on the set…”

Genoa said that’s a sign of an insecure boyfriend. For his part Genoa said he was secure enough to tell his partner to go do her thing at work. “But just leave work at work. That’s the only thing I would ever ask.” When asked, Genoa said he never personally shot any of his girlfriends but has been on sets they’ve worked. Lei said she wasn’t monogamous but believes in it. To which Genoa said if he was in love with somebody, he would be. “The excitement that they bring to you you don’t need to drift away.”

Csaba said a relationship needs to have more to it than just sex. “If you are in a relatinoship because of sex that relationship is doomed from the start.” Genoa’s suspicion is that sex is pushed down our throats from the media. “Absolutely. What sells products? Sex.”

“But what creates sex?” asked Lei rhetorically. “Feeling.” Genoa said for him it was his nuts and was basically willing to split the difference and take sides with any views that would keep him out of an argument.

Asked if he was afraid that he’d burn out on porno, Genoa said he loves the creative aspect. “People go, oh, you watch sex all day. Actually I look around the frame of the viewfinder. I’m not staring at penis going in. I’m surprised I still get wood. I shoot every day, all day.” Genoa agreed with Csaba in that the first two weeks on the job is “bonerville” after which it becomes a job.

If given her druthers Lei said she’d prefer to date within the industry. “But there’s many things I would ask for. I would be very demanding and very picky. I would want someone in the industry because they could relate to me.” Genoa asked Csaba if he’d be cool to Lei having a girlfriend. “I’ve been asking her for that for six months,” he replied, noting that it wouldn’t be easy, however. “Imagine both girls having their periods. That’s a time I would have to take vacation.”

Genoa said he was in a personal time-out from relationships. “It feels great.” Csaba wondered aloud how many people in the industry were in lasting relationships. “Good question,” aidGenoa. “None.” Csaba mentioned Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan. “One,” said Genoa revising his answer. “They’re really cool people.” Asked if he knew anyu others, Genoa hesistated with an answer. “I don’t know of any.” Czaba’s guess was that at least 20% had normal relationships. Lani said she heard over 80% of the relationships don’t work out. “The industry takes elationships and spits them out.”

Csaba thought that was a good excuse. “I think the people are dysfunctional.” Genoa said the relationships are likely to last for awhile. “But not forever.” Csaba thought that Don Hollywood and Brooke Hunter came under the umbrella of normalcy. “I love normal porn people.”

Genoa thought that was an oxymoron. On the subject of white trailer trash Csaba said, “When somepne is dumb and just goes on the set and fucks, that’s disgusting to me.” Lani also pointed to Chris and Alana Evans. “Their relationship is good.”

Csaba said Kris Slater had been in a healthy relationship with Pason but that’s over.
