LONDON, ENGLAND- Sort out that porn collection with WACS
According to the tabloid press, the internet is full of porn. We think this is a good thing because we really like pictures of pretty young ladies loosing their attire! However finding your favourite bits can be a bit of a nightmare and so a group of F/OSS advocates with too much time on their hands have spent the last four years developing a solution to that problem. WACS, Web-based Adult Content Server, is a free software package that lets you build a mini porn site on your own Linux PC in which to keep all those beloved gems you’ve picked up from who knows where.
You might think that yet another media management system was a bit unecessary but WACS really is specifically targetted at this one rather special type of media. WACS has many of best features seen on the commercial web sites, including dynamic filtering, model catalogs, random sampling, galleries, automatic download, and a powerful search engine. WACS contains both a full ready-to-run Web environment and an extensive programming API implemented in both Perl and PHP.
Lead developer, a crazy Englishman who goes by the handle Beaky says: “WACS started out from a desire to organise my own collection, and then got expanded when a looming threat of rendunancy made me consider roles outside IT and becoming a professional photographer beckoned. I therefore started working on turning WACS from a personal toy into a serious toolkit for building web sites, and along with support from a small international team of like minded hackers we’ve put together something we think is pretty impressive. Sad too, but hey …”
So if you have a porn problem and just have to be able to find that lovely set of photos of that brunette in the garden in her nightdress, take a look at WACS, it just might help you!
WACS is Free/Open Source Software package release under the GPL version 3. It can be found at either http://wacsip.sourceforge.net or http://launchpad.net/wacs.
