LENNOX, Calif. from www.ktla.com — The Lennox Little League may be in financial trouble again, after deciding to turn down a $1,200 donation from a strip club.

This year, the little leaguers almost lost their season, after the Lennox K-8 School District doubled fees to rent baseball fields for games.

It also decided to stop allowing the league to sell hot dogs at games to raise money.

Then, suddenly, a donation came in from an unlikely source — the Jet Strip Gentleman’s Club.

The strip club gave $1,200, and the season was saved.

Jet Strip’s manager, who did not want to be identified, said the club is community and family-oriented.

He said that many of the people who work and go there have families of their own, and the club has been giving back to the community for years.

The club has a family festival every year to raise money for school supplies for underage children. It also contributes to the local sheriff’s deputies.

Some parents said they were okay with the donation coming from a strip club.

“Whoever is willing to get behind the kids in a positive way, you know, we have to be willing to support those people as well,” mother Tanya Dempsey said.

But not everyone felt that way, including Little League President Roberto Aguirre.

“This morning we found out exactly where the check came from,” Aguirre told KTLA Monday night. “It was a shocker to us.”

According to Aguirre, the Lennox School District will return the check to the strip club, keeping baseball’s image clean.

“We do not want the money from the strip club. I think, for us, we do need the money, but we will go some other avenue,” Aguirre said.

He said he hopes the district will be willing to renegotiate fees.

The league also plans to reach out to other businesses in the community that they feel are more appropriate.

Their long-term goal is to raise $65,000 to build a hot dog stand that can help keep the league going.

The Lennox Little League is comprised of around 40 teams, and serves over 300 kids.
