I always told my old man how much he reminded me of Bela Lugosi. It was definitely the widows peak hairdo, and my father would do a pretty decent Lugosi imitation to boot. I also remember as a five year-old when my parents took me to see the original Dracula with Lugosi in the movie theaters.
You could hear the crisp crackle coming off that old film print, and the second feature on the double-bill was Frankenstein with Karloff.
In a Vince McMahon sort of way, Universal figured it was even better to pair up Lugosi with Karloff. They did a number of wonderful films together, but my all time favorite creep flick will always be The Raven; and because it fits into the spooky house theme we’ve adopted….
