Robert Lombard, www.creativeimagemgmt.com received the following letter from a married couple:
My wife and I are fans of soft core (late night cable) erotica. I wanted to write you and let you know we have enjoyed some of the recent films you have been involved with and some of the new talent you have helped bring into the business. I know you have received some criticism for the “new direction” of the soft core genre. I think overall it has been a positive change. We are soft core fans.
Most hard core porn I can ‘t even watch and certainly don’t find it very stimulating. Erotic films must have attractive people who can act, and production values that are high enough that the fantasy is not lost. Of course the sex must be interesting and believable. But I think that the real soft core fan doesn’t want to be distracted by the fact that actual sex, not simulated sex is taking place.
When I watch a hard core video, I can’t help but ask myself what kind of people are these who have sex on film with people they hardly know for a living. This of course ruins the illusion. With softcore that doesn’t come into play. I know this distinction may be unfair but I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way. I tend to believe that this is part of the resistance of some softcore fans to hardcore talent in softcore films. You get focused on the actors as real people and not characters. Apparently this is what hardcore fans are looking for, but the rest of us still want the fantasy andillusion. That being said, my wife and I watched “Voyeur: The Motion Picture” a couple of weeks ago and were very impressed. It was not just the actors but the cinematography and style were different and interestestng. Also, the cast was very good. We particularly liked Monique Alexander, Syren and Ava Vincent. They are very attractive but real looking and pretty good actors. They are obviously comfortable with each other and the sex scenes were realistic and very hot. We certainly hope they do more of this sort of work. This is an example of hardcore talent in a soft core film that really works.
I have to say that I have seen about all of Ava Lake (Mia), Susan Featherly and Regina Russell that I care to see. They are not particularly interesting as actors and the sex is routine and frankly, boring.
We also saw another film a couple of nights ago with Venus and even though it was much more of a run of the mill late night offering,it was interesting because of her. There is something about her that makes you want to watch even in a non sex scene. Please tell her if you get a chance that both my wife and I think her breasts are great and whatever she does, she should not get implants. Its all part of her appeal as an attractive, sexy woman but real. Her girl/girl sexscenes are probably the best in the business.
So I think it is important to bring in new interesting talent but the basic elements of soft core must not be abandoned.
Thanks and keep up the good work,
Donnie and Donna.
